Eight face trial for Extinction Rebellion protest at Amazon Darlington

EXTINCTION Rebellion protestors are due to stand trial after pleading not guilty to trespassing at Amazon in Darlington on Black Friday.

Eight people appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court today.

Seven people pleaded not guilty to aggravated trespass following the incident at the Amazon warehouse at Symmetry Park, Darlington on November 26.

The action was organised by Extinction Rebellion to coincide with Black Friday.

An eighth person, James Ozden pleaded not guilty to one charge of aggravated trespass and one charge of possession of the bladed article.

Ozden, of Elphinstone Road, London, elected to stand trial at crown court.

The 25-year-old is due to appear at Durham Crown Court on February 10.

The seven people charged with aggravated trespass are Hannah Crowther, 21, of Winnock Road, Yiewsley, Fiona Quekett, 22, of All Saints Villas Road, Cheltenham, Scarlett Rien, 30, of no fixed abode, Lydia Dibben, 23, of no fixed abode, Riley Ings, 24, of no fixed abode, William James, 24, of Fairfax Street, York and Katie Ritchie-Moulin, 22 of Prospect Road, Birmingham.

They all pleaded not guilty.

The next hearing will be held at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on March 1.

They have been given bail on the condition they do not enter any premises owned or operated by Amazon.

Charges against a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were dropped.
